* Pick of the pics
Posted on September 23rd, 2008 by mdl. Filed under Photos.
I still have tons and tons to learn… I shot everything tonight in RAW. But when I did my post processing the pics looked great. When I saved them as JPGs to upload, they lost some of the punch that they had before they where saved as JPGs… Oh well, more to learn.
* Listening to crickets
Posted on September 23rd, 2008 by mdl. Filed under Family & Friends.
So work has been a track meet so far this school year. Some days I am leading the pack, other days I am doubled over in exhaustion…
But this evening I had some plans with my dad, showed up early with the intent of shooting some pics, and find that my family was all off doing other stuff. No big deal, I walk around taking picks and the world just slooooowed down. After walking around the Lilly Compound for about 45 minutes I had a seat on my parents front porch, kicked up my feet and listened to crickets…. Chirp-chirping they sang a melody I hadn’t taken the time to enjoy all summer… Mmmmm. Now that is the good stuff!
* A good day

A normal work day with a little less craziness then normal.
Good conversation with my amazing wife.
Quick dinner, a walk and ice cream with local law enforcement :-p aka Todd Thie.
A good workout and 3 miles on the exercise bike…
Yup it was a good day.

* Palin name generator

Name: If they where a Palin:
Michael David….Trough Gutted Palin
Diana Sue……….Wesson Scalper Palin
Steven Jay……….Pie Gallon Palin
And if Sarah Palin was born to someone who named kids like she does:
Sarah Louise……Mullet Troll Palin
Maybe they just throw darts at a dictionary or something? Her kids have crazy names, and trust me I have nothing wrong with names that are away from the norm, but Track? Trig? Bristol? Willow? Piper? I would give Track 5 bucks to change his name to Barack. On a more serious note I hope Track stays safe during his deployment to Iraq.
* Economy: Barack v McCain aaaaand FIGHT
Posted on September 17th, 2008 by mdl. Filed under Updates.
Barack is going to “change” everything. I have yet to hear how he is going to “change” anything just that he is going to “change” everything. The only component that the Dems have offered is more “regulatory oversight,” and that was via his running mate Mr. Biden.
McCain, although almost as vague as Obama in how is going to change things, AT LEAST says he is going to start with Wall Street.
Hey Obama, let me give you a hint, I think McCain is pointing in the right direction. Those record oil profits you talk about, ya that is coming from Wall Street. The CEO’s with failing companies making sick sick bank, Dolan from Bristol Meyers Squib making better than 10m per year while dropping the stock value almost 50 % (there are many in this category), these guys are ruining the economy and the retirement of millions of Americans. Start here buddy, start here.
As a small government proponent, saying “our economy needs more regulatory oversight,” scares me. McCain, you sir are also talking about adding red tape via regulation, BUT at least he is telling me where he is going to start with this regulation, and he does have a track record of fighting regulation. Now I realize you can’t trust thees guys as far as you can spit, but all I have to go off of is what they are saying they will do, and track record. McCain historically – fought regulation (and we’ve had a booming economy during that period – till the .com bust and the towel head / twin tower encounter). Obama, nothin that I’m aware of (feel free to educate me).
Alright friends…weigh in…
* Dreaming out loud

A LOT of things going on! Good grief. Holly put in her notice with her employer. Pete followed suit a week later, announcing his new position. 7 inches of rain, some of which ended up in many of our basements. Jim, Dan, Joey and my cousin in law (?) all turning 30. Diana is rocking out 25 AND back in school.
Not like everything is pretty and peachy, but dangit nothin is that bad either
I just have this feeling in my gut that good stuff is coming. Changes are taking place, plans are unfurling, and that some neat stuff is going to happen. I have no idea what that might be, maybe it is my coffee talking this morning, but we are blessed people!
* Not entirely terrible

Leading a digital life is interesting… Blogging, photo sharing, facebooking, etc. all lead to transparency. You can cover things, hide things, only share what you wish, but what you do share gives people a window into part of your life.
What I enjoy out of it, is I looking back on what I have shared with people and try to gather what it says about me and who I am. I was going through some of my photos I ran across my brother’s senior pics on Drummond Island and remembered how much fun it was. That was a memory I needed right about now. So I encourage you – friends… Put something online… Share something, stories, photos, jokes, doesn’t matter… Even if hardly anyone looks at it, reads it, or even cares that it is there, at least you will have something to poke at when you have nothing better to do
