* The bailout fallout

Roughly 40% of Dems voted against this bailout package.
Roughly 60% of Reps voted against this bailout package.
The congress is a Democrat majority, if they wanted the a package through today it would have went through today. Over a trillion in market cap was lost today. The markets lost enough money today to fund that entire bailout, and man alive where the pigs squealing as they found out the slop wasn’t hitting their buckets first. Don’t believe me? Turn on the news.
I believe there will be something done, and I think the gov’t slowing down will ultimately force a better decision. I understand the credit markets are frozen. I understand this can ultimately filter down to the both of us losing our jobs. I get that. Hear me now when I say this nation is paying the price for living off of money it doesn’t have. We are paying for the sins of our nation for the last 50 years, not the sins of congress in the last week.
* Debate

A birdie told me someone wanted to debate another aspect of the McCain Palin ticket. Now, again, I am not a card carying anything. I am a small government aficionado with a heart for moral capitalism, which has left me completely abandoned by those running for office. BUT I am willing to play devils advocate on whichever position you are taking in order to achieve a few solid things. 1, I believe better decisions come through competent dialog. 2, you and I can learn more about eachother and build better friendships through good debate. 3, I learn, grow, think, and act stronger and more agile after some good old fashion sparring
SO, if the little birdie was correct, this round is: Female leadership in government….aaaaaaannnnnddd FIGHT!
* Money

Ok, it has never been more important to have a handle on your finances then during an election. I mean, I KNOW that both parties are going to lower middle class taxes and put more money in our back pockets (RIGHT
anyway, I wanted to share again some of the podcasts I listen to. I think ya’ll would benefit from them just as much as I would.
1. Ramsey Budgeting guru, pro-self responsibility, encourages Godly handling of money.
2. Brian Preston More advanced topics then Ramsey, a little more finance geek stuff, but VERY relevant if you ever plan to retire, or want to have a handle on what financial advisers are telling / selling you.
I cut some of the others out just because I wasn’t taking the time to listen to them. But these are a start. Please give them a listen and let me know what you think… The most recent one on Brian Preston’s is HUGE as far as being able to sleep at night while my retirement account feels like it is being raked over the coals.

I have told a few people, so why not put it on the ol’bloggy blog as well. The issue of this gov’t bailout just might be a deal breaker for me even voting for the presidential election this year.
I am not 100% familiar with the verbage, but to the last of my knowledge the package would have given full immunity to Henry Paulson over the use of that 700 Billion. Let me go ahead and toss this little thing out there, 700 Billion writes out as: $700,000,000,000. Yeah, lets just breath that one in for a second.
Recently I had my status update as “if you had 700 Billion, would you give it to a bunch of broken banks? Yeah me too.” Obviously I’m being sarcastic here… Estimates of the US population of 20 + years of age puts our numbers @ 217,611,754… Bare with me here because wikipedia lumped 0-19 so I can’t snag the 18 + total, but 700,000,000,000 / 217,611,754 (US population over 20, est) = $3,216 per person.
That is a heck of a lot of money to not have the head honcho be accountable for.
I am trying to come up with a number of home mortgages in the US but I can’t grab those stats quickly. But realistically what is putting the US in this pinch? Overspending, buying what you can’t afford, including homes. Why not address the citizens that have junk loans instead of addressing the corrupt banks that made the loans. Those loans never should have been made, and we can thank Bill Clinton, Allen Greenspan, and a bunch of us biting off more than we can chew for this mess. Why then would we give 700 Billion to the people who broke regulations to give loans to people who could not afford them?
How this package is handled could put the US in a situation to the magnitude of the Great Depression. And I fear that it could be a GREATER Depression… The dollar is weak, no one wants it, this will only make it weaker. You are bailing out the people who broke the rules in the first place, let those banks be bought by other banks with the capital and deep pockets to weather the storm (ie Western Mutual & Bank of America deal). Think with me, what is ONE thing the Government does right with money? I can come up with a list of underfunded institutions, and a list of crappy pork barrel spending… Sorry, I don’t trust someone with complete immunity to handle 700 Billion. AND for your info, he requested that much… Another little tidbit, Mr Paulson used to be a big wig @ Goldman Sachs one of the big boys about to get kicked to pieces by this mess.
More on this later…. But as I understand the cards right now… Deal or no deal? I say no.
Both candidates say there needs to be more regulation and oversight… Yeah, what good did the regulation and oversight that exists do? NONE! We have regulation and oversight over this kind of bull crap, and THEY BLEW IT! The government is not an efficient entity for this type of thing, sorry its the stinking truth.

* I don’t care Friday

Yup. Busy as all get out…. and I don’t care.
About 100 things rely on me caring today… and I don’t care.
My coffee isn’t tasting as good as normal…. don’t care.
I can still taste hints of flintsone vitamin in my mouth… nope, don’t care.
I grabbed the wrong container of left overs for lunch, you know the one with not much of the good stuff in it… aaaaaaaaaaand wait for it….. still don’t care.
Happy don’t care Friday. Why don’t I care? CUZ IT IS FREAKING FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!! WAAAHOOOO!!!!!

Today just became a GREAT day! Why? The Lions fired Mat Millen!!! Snoopy dance, snooooooopy dance
Next up, Ford needs to sell them. Why would I say that? Simple, Millen was bad, but take a small second to think about the fact the Lions have only won one playoff game since 1964 when the Fords took over, and THAT is unacceptable.
Regardless, today is a good day.

I wish I could personally THANK the engineers who took the time to make this website. Essentially it has a list of issues that voters are concerned about. From there it takes quotes of each candidate and puts them head to head. You can click the arrows to read more and more quotes, or click on a different issue to read what the candidates had to say about it. You don’t have to read or listen to the whole puffy speech, just the quote. Its kinda nice. Get their positions with the option to read the whole speech that contained it.
But I did have to chuckle to myself because it does cut some of the quotes off (to finish it you have to actually go to the site the quote was taken from)… What is funny about this is some of it just doesn’t make sense sometimes which (you have to appreciate the imagery here) makes me think of John Madden stuttering and stammering his way through a political speech. So as I read these quotes, I SWEAR I can hear them doing a Madden impersonation
“Well you see here weee’ve … we’ve got these guys… these troops… and they are fighting right. Well you see when they fight, they are fighting and its hot over there so these guys are hot and they are fighting.”

Negotiations are all about controlling things, being in the driver’s seat. You make one tiny mistake, and you’re dead. And I made one tiny mistake. I wore women’s clothes.

Getting ready this morning, the hyper gay gossip guy welcomed Clay Akon out of the closet with a “Welcome to the Gayberhood.”
Just a bit over the top… Just sayin….
