Well, I’ve taken my photo geekery to a new level.  With much prodding from a friend of mine, I’m in a joint venture photography company.  We are shooting a wedding this weekend and shot two senior portrait rounds last week.

Its fun, we’ll see where it goes.  I doubt I’ll ever be paying bills with it, but I really love shooting and interacting with fun people.  So here goes nothing right?

I found this spawn of Satan hatching little ones before attempting to lay siege to my house.  The animals are against us my friends.  I suggest you sharpen your skills and get ready, you never know when they’ll come after you next.

Did I mention Di is deathly afraid of spiders?

SOOO close to buying this bad boy today.  Best buy has a couple on hand in Okemos.  I will probably be buying one on Sunday as it is the “reward zone” customer day or something like that.  So I figure I can run on in then and get double reward points on it

At this point I’m gunning to get the updated processor and better ISO capabilities, plus having a spare camera is never a bad idea.  From there I’ll be spending my flow in lenses to get things rolling.  Once the hobby is kinda paying for itself, then I get more agressive on getting into a pro level body instead of a pro-am body.

I’ve been in a funk for a couple months….paritlaly work related, partially me just getting run down and disillusioned.  This video kinda sumed up how I’ve felt and actually how it impacted the ol’photog hobby…

Scott Kelby is one of the leading how to’ish kind of books in Photography.  He is really a very tallented guy, who has the heart of a teacher.  Scott just updated his professional portfolio, and I was delighted to see when you hover over the pics in his galleries they all fade to black and white.  I love it, I have been picked on for my love of black and white photos, but here you have it, a PRO who has a black and white version of EVERY shot   So take that haters.

Canon released their update to the Rebel XSI today, well more they actually made it official.  It is a 15 mega pixel DSLR that shoots 1080p video as well.  Downside?  Doesn’t ship till May   I was hoping that they where going to ship alot sooner than that as there would be one headed to my place.  I guess I have another month to study up on it and think it through.  Who knows maybe I’ll have to spring for the Mark II instead :-p

This guy (Chase Jarvis) takes better photos with his freaking iPhone than I ever will with my photo gear.  Some people are good, some people are so good you just want to punch them in the face.  Lucky for me, I’m a pansy and thus won’t punch someone in the face 1. because it is not nice and 2. because I would end up getting my face beat into the curb.

But in all fairness he is one of the best in the game.

I snagged Pete‘s 50mm f1.8 @ the pancake dinner tonight and started playing with it.  I tossed a couple up on flickr, not many keepers considering I was just playing and trying to spend more time meeting and talking with people than messing with my camera….  Which I probably failed at, but hey I did meet some cool new people, including Carin (hope I spelled that right).   And Carin let me just say you probably get the most comments on you blog of any non pro blogger I’ve ever seen.  With some poking around I found her photography site, I love meeting photogs, and I love it more when they put their work online
